Xiaomi has announced three new Note series phones: The Redmi Note 9 5G, the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G and the Redmi Note 9 4G in China. These are different from the Note 9 series already available in India. Xiaomi didn’t say anything about international availability, and since the Note 9 series already exist in a lot of countries, these phones may be rebranded when they enter the Global market. Here is everything you need to know about the new phones.
Redmi Note 9 5G
The front of this device features a 6.53-inch 60 Hz HD+ IPS LCD panel with a hole punch to house the 13 MP selfie shooter. The rear has a triple camera setup with a 48 MP primary camera, an 8 MP ultra-wide lens and an additional 2 MP depth sensor. The device is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 800U paired with 8 GB of RAM and upto 256 GB of storage expandable via a MicroSD card slot. It also comes with a 5,000 mAh battery with support for 18W ‘fast’ charging. The phone runs Android 10 out of the box and run’s Xiaomi’s MIUI 11 skin on top.

Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G
The Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G, on the other hand, features a 6.67-inch FHD+ 120 Hz IPS LCD Display with a punch hole to house the 16 MP selfie shooter. The phone comes with a ‘quad’ camera setup featuring a primary 108 MP sensor, a 13 MP ultrawide sensor, a 2 MP depth sensor and a 2 MP macro camera. The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 750 CPU and an Adreno 619 GPU which is paired with 8 GB of RAM and upto 256 GB of storage. The phone packs a 4,820 mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging.
Redmi Note 9 4G
The Redmi Note 9 4G sports a 6.53-inch FHD+ IPS LCD Display with a waterdrop style notch housing the 8 MP front-facing camera. The rear features a triple camera setup with a 48 MP primary shooter, an 8 MP ultrawide camera and a 2 MP depth sensor. The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 CPU and an Adreno 610 GPU paired with upto 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage. The phone also packs a 6,000 mAh battery with support for 18W ‘fast’ charging.

Redmi Note 9 Series Pricing and Availability
The Redmi Note 9 5G starts at CNY 1,299 (~ Rs. 14,600) for the 6 GB RAM + 128 GB ROM model. It’s available in 3 colourways: Cloud Ink Grey, Flowing Shadow Purple, and Outside the Castle Peak. The Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G starts at CNY 1,599 (~ Rs. 17,900) for the 6 GB + 128 GB variant. It is available in black, blue, and Lake and Autumn colour variants. The Redmi Note 9 4G starts at CNY 999 (~ Rs. 11,200) for the 4 GB + 128 GB model. It is also available in 3 colourways: Smoke Wave Blue, Misty Green, and Feather Black.
Xiaomi has not yet said anything about the international release of the phone. However, it will be interesting to see whether Xiaomi will rebrand the phone under another name in markets such as India where a different Redmi Note 9 series already exists.
