OnePlus 8 Pro: Premium Redefined?

The OnePlus 8 Pro will be the top of the line phones, with a 6.5-inch AMOLED QHD+ display capped at 120Hz refresh rate. Most of the OEMs are playing number games about the display, and we’d not be surprised if OnePlus did it too. The smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 and come with either 8GB or 16GB RAM, and users can select from128 or 256GB of UFS 3.0 internal storage. A 4500mAh battery could be backing up the device with support for the 50W warp charge.

OnePlus 8 Pro- "OnePlus 8 series: What we know so far"

In terms of optics, the OnePlus 8 Pro leaked specs hint at a quad-camera setup on the back with a 64MP primary camera setup. There is also said to be a 16 MP wide-angle, a 13 MP telephoto camera, and a 3D Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensor. On the front, it could come with a 32MP Samsung Isocell GD1 sensor. The phone could be launched running on OxygenOS with Android 10 and might be priced around $799 (Rs 57,500 approx).

OnePlus 8 Specs

The OnePlus 8 is rumored to sport a 6.55-inch AMOLED display with a Full HD+ 90 Hz display this time, which makes sense as it is the toned-down version. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 865  and could come in 6GB, 8GB and 12GB RAM variants and with storage choices of 128GB or 256GB to select from. The smartphone could be powered by a 4000mAh battery with 30W Warp Charge support.

The OnePlus 8 is said to feature a triple rear camera setup that may sport a 48MP primary sensor, a 16MP wide-angle camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. The front camera might be the popular 32MP sensor from Samsung named ISOCELL GD1 sensor. The phone is expected to launch with Android 10 out of the box with OxygenOS on top. The OnePlus 8 might be priced at $549 (INR 40,000 approx).

Is Lite the New Big Deal?

The OnePlus 8 Lite, as the name suggests, would be the least potent phone in the series. It could face off against the most popular mid-range handsets like the Redmi K30 Pro and the Realme X2 Pro. The OnePlus 8 Lite could come implemented with a Full HD+ 6.4-inch AMOLED 90Hz display and might be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1000 SoC (Just a rumor).OnePlus 8 Lite - "OnePlus 8 series: What we know so far"

The OnePlus 8 Lite might have a triple rear camera setup on the back with a 48MP main sensor, a 16MP wide-angle camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. There might be a  16MP Sony IMX471 sensor for selfies. The phone could pack a 4000mAh battery that is said to support 30W fast charging. The phone could be priced at $499 (INR 35,600 approx).

Will The OnePlus 8 Series have an IP rating?

OnePlus previously claimed that its phones are water-resistant but said it didn’t go through the trouble of making them IP testified, which makes sense as that would increase the cost of the phones. A tipster Max J recently tweeted an image that suggests an IP rating on the upcoming OnePlus 8 series. While the tipster didn’t explicitly mention whether the OnePlus handsets might come with IP67 or IP68 rating, we can expect the Pro variant to get the official certification. OnePlus might play it smart and not get the 8, and 8 Lite certified to prevent higher costs.
