Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Might Release Next Year in May

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is the latest flagship smartphone chipset from Qualcomm. The predecessor of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 named the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, was announced at 2021’s Snapdragon Tech Summit on 30 November, which is being already featured in the recent smartphones, and Qualcomm is gearing up to launch its Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which will be most likely be released in 2023 in May.

According to a report, the processor can be called Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, and it might also be called Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 plus. In addition, the number of chips produced by TSMC will exceed the amount that Samsung will have, and it might be because of the TSMC’s 4nm technology which is more good and offers improved energy efficiency.

When we recall the details of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, the processor provides cutting-edge 5G, AI, gaming, camera, and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technologies to transform the next generation of flagship devices.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 features Snapdragon Sight Camera Technology comprising the first commercial 18-bit mobile IS. The processor is equipped with the 4th gen Snapdragon X65 5G Modem-RF System in terms of connectivity.

The Snapdragon 8 features the Qualcomm FastConnect 6900 Mobile Connectivity System, supporting the fastest Wi-Fi speeds available up to 3.6 Gbps over Wi-Fi 6 and 6E for enhanced gaming and better performance.

In terms of camera optimization, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip features Snapdragon Sight Technology includes the first commercial 18-bit mobile ISP, capturing over 4000x more camera data for extreme dynamic range, color, a speed up to 3.2 gigapixels per second as well.

In addition, it also features the updated AI Engine, which unlocks features like 8K video recording in HDR, a bokeh engine for 4K video, and support for extra stops of dynamic range.

According to a report shared by Ice Universe, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 rivaled the Apple A15 Bionic and out-performing it in one test. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset’s Adreno GPU is on par with Apple’s A15 Bionic graphics.

In terms of Artificial intelligence, the 7th Gen Qualcomm AI Engine is equipped with ultra-high performance with Qualcomm Hexagon processor by featuring a 2x faster tensor accelerator and 2x more significant shared memory, and many more.
