After launching the Galaxy M52 5G in India yesterday, Samsung announced its first-ever 5G phone in the Galaxy F series. The Galaxy F42 5G joins Samsung’s other budget 5G offerings, including the Galaxy M42 5G, Galaxy M32 5G, Galaxy A22 5G, and a few more.
As tipped by Samsung earlier, the phone comes with a few exciting features like 12 5G bands support, Dimensity 700 SoC, 64MP triple cameras, a 5000mAh battery, and more. Read our coverage till the end to get a brief idea about the Samsung Galaxy F42 5G.
Samsung Galaxy F42 5G: Specifications
Thankfully, Samsung didn’t play it cheap and offer us an HD+ panel; instead, the Galaxy F42 5G comes with a 6.6″ FHD+ display. It does feature a high refresh rate of 90Hz. However, the technology used here is TFT and not IPS LCD. The display sees a V-shaped notch or an infinity-V design, as Samsung likes to say.
The Samsung Galaxy F42 5G houses the 7nm MediaTek Dimensity 700 5G processor. The octa-core processor has an integrated Mali G57 MC2 GPU and will be available in two RAM variants — 6GB and 8GB, both of which come with 128GB of internal storage (expandable up to 1TB). Furthermore, the handset boots OneUI Core 3.1 based on Android 11.
The Galaxy F42 5G sports a 64MP triple camera setup for optics, the other sensors being a 5MP 115-degree FOV ultra-wide lens and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front end, it comes with an 8MP selfie camera having an f/2.0 aperture. You can record videos in 1080p resolution, but there isn’t an option for video recording in 4K resolution on either side.
A 5000mAh battery is what you get here, and it can support charging up to 15W through the USB Type-C port. That said, various other features of the Galaxy F42 5G include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band Wi-Fi, mono speakers, dedicated SIM tray, etc.
Pricing and Availability
The Samsung Galaxy F42 5G will be available starting at ₹20,999 for the 6GB+128GB variant and ₹25,999 for the 8GB+128GB variant. It will go on sale during the Flipkart Big Billion Days sale from 3rd October 2021, and one can choose from two color options — Matte Black and Matte Aqua.
