So, after days of teasing, the debut of Redmi 10 Prime finally took place this noon. With specs like a 90Hz display, MediaTek Helio G88 SoC, and 50MP quad-cameras, the Redmi 10 Prime is indeed a true successor to the Redmi 9 Prime.
At least for now, the Redmi 10 Prime starts at ₹12,499. With that price tag, it will compete against the POCO M3, Micromax In Note 1, and a couple of offerings from Infinix and Tecno.
Redmi 10 Prime: Specifications
Kicking off with the screen, the Redmi 10 Prime features a 6.5″ FHD+ display with a 90Hz adaptive refresh rate, which can switch between 45Hz, 60Hz, and 90Hz. The panel is precisely the same as one seen on the Redmi Note 10T 5G, including the centrally positioned hole punch cutout. Up top, it is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
The Redmi 10 Prime wasn’t alone while making a debut; it was joined by the processor inside — the MediaTek Helio G88 SoC. For the most part, it succeeds the MediaTek Helio G85 SoC, which is quite popular in budget smartphones. With that, one can choose from 4GB or 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 128GB of storage. It comes with MediaTek’s HyperEngine 2.0 technology, in addition to a RAM extension feature, which can expand the onboard RAM by another 2GB.
Coming to the cameras, the Redmi 10 Prime houses a quad-camera setup comprising of a 50MP f/1.8 primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, the Redmi 10 Prime has an 8MP selfie snapper. The handset sports dual mics and a variety of camera modes and filters to elevate the camera experience. Video capabilities include Full HD recording at 30fps on both ends.
A 6000mAh battery backs the Redmi 10 Prime, paired with 18W fast charging. Xiaomi still provides a 22.5W adapter in the box, but the phone can accept charging at 18W max. Taking advantage of the big battery capacity, the Redmi 10 Prime can reverse charge other devices at 9W. The device runs on MIUI 12.5 based on Android 11.
That said, other features include stereo speakers, expandable memory card slot, 4G VoLTE, IR Blaster, 3.5mm headphone jack, splash proofing, etc. Above all, the smartphone weighs 192 grams and has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication along with an AI-based face unlock system.
Pricing and Availability
The Redmi 10 Prime will be available in two configurations — 4GB+64GB for ₹12,499 and 6GB+128GB for ₹14,499. Buyers can choose from three color options: Phantom Black, Bifrost Blue, and Astral White.
