The Reno series has always been the company’s answer to other budget flagships, and this time, it’s the Oppo Reno6 series. In a virtual launch event organised by Oppo India today, they announced the Oppo Reno6 5G and the Oppo Reno6 Pro 5G. With Ranbir Kapoor on board, it should be pretty clear that Reno6’s highlighting features are its design and cameras.
Both of them feature Oppo’s exclusive Reno Glow design, and of course, camera modes specially made for the Reno6 series. Prices start at ₹29,990 for the Reno6 5G and ₹39,990 for the Reno6 Pro 5G.
Oppo Reno6 5G: Specifications
The Oppo Reno6 5G houses a 6.43″ flat FHD+ Super AMOLED Display with a 90Hz fast refresh rate and up to 180Hz touch sampling rate. Like the iPhone 12 series, the Reno6 5G has flat edges that are just 7.59mm thick and weigh 182 grams. The cornered punch-hole cutout features a 32MP selfie camera.
It is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 900 5G chipset, with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM. One can expand the onboard RAM virtually up to 5GB using the Oppo Exclusive RAM expansion feature. The processor is based on a 6nm fabrication process and supports WiFi 6.
The rear setup includes three lenses — a 64MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP macro sensor and an additional colour temperature sensor. The exclusive camera modes include ultra-clear 108MP mode, bokeh flare portrait video, AI highlight video, and many more.
The device packs a 4300mAh battery that can charge at 65W using Oppo’s 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 charger. The brand claims a time of 28 minutes to charge from nil to 100%. It runs on ColorOS 11.3 based on Android 11.
Oppo Reno6 Pro 5G: Specifications
The Oppo Reno6 Pro 5G boasts a 6.5″ 3D curved FHD+ Super AMOLED Display with a 90Hz fast refresh rate and a 180Hz touch sampling rate. Unlike the vanilla Reno6, it retains the curved formed factor. The body is 7.6mm thick and weighs 177 grams. The display has an aspect ratio of 20:9 and has the ability to playback HDR10+ content.
It houses MediaTek’s flagship Dimensity 1200 5G chipset under the hood. The onboard 12GB of RAM can be virtually expanded up to an extra 7GB using the Oppo Exclusive RAM expansion feature. In contrast, you can’t expand the 256GB of internal storage by any means.
The optics include four cameras, namely a 64MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP macro lens, a 2MP mono camera and an additional colour temperature sensor. The 32MP sensor on the front side handles selfies and selfie videos. Like its younger brother, the exclusive camera modes include ultra-clear 108MP mode, bokeh flare portrait video, AI highlight video, etc.
The smartphone features a 4500mAh battery that supports 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 charge. Because of a bigger capacity, the claimed time for a complete charge increases to 31 minutes. It also runs on ColorOS 11.3 based on Android 11.
