OnePlus is set to launch the Nord 2 5G on 22nd July at 7:30 PM IST, but we already know the prominent specifications. Thanks to leakers and tipsters, we now see how the latest offering from OnePlus will be. Here’s a quick rundown of what the phone has to offer.
If you had been keeping an eye on OnePlus’s Twitter account for a while now, you must’ve seen how it looks. In case you haven’t, here’s how the OnePlus Nord 2 5G will look like, as teased by the brand. Safe to say, except for the position of the LED flashlight, the rear camera setup resembles the one found on the company’s top-tier OnePlus 9. And, the alert slider is back, but we aren’t sure about our good old headphone jack. As per 91mobiles, the handset will be available in Grey Sierra and Blue Haze colors and a Green Woods finish with a leather back, exclusive to the top variant only.
The display will be similar to the one found on the previous Nord, i.e. 6.43″ FHD+ Super AMOLED Display with a 90Hz fast refresh rate with HDR10+ support. Both the front and back glass will be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, just like the original Nord. Bumping the battery capacity, the Nord 2 will sport a 4500mAh battery, with either 30W or 65W Warp Charging, as leaked by 91mobiles.
In recent years, the camera performance of OnePlus phones was not quite there. Well, we still can’t assure you of improvement, but the specs seem promising. According to 91mobiles, the Nord 2 will feature a 50MP Sony IMX766 primary camera with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP monochrome sensor, along with a single 32MP Sony IMX616 selfie camera on the front. There will be no Hasselblad magic this time around and no ultra-wide sensor on the front for selfies.
The first thing that OnePlus revealed after announcing the Nord 2 was its processor — the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 AI 5G chipset. Ditching the Qualcomm processor this time, the Dimensity 1200 AI 5G processor will come with up to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. We are not sure about the number of 5G bands present, but as per Debayan Roy (Gadgetsdata), the Nord 2 will have seven 5G bands.
Coming to the software on the Nord 2, it will be the first phone from OnePlus to feature OxygenOS 11.3, which is the first OxygenOS build that uses OnePlus & OPPO’s integrated codebase, as said by Firstpost. The phone will receive two major Android updates and three years of security updates.
We obviously can’t guess the price with pinpoint accuracy, but the rumoured price is said to be ₹31,999 for the base variant and ₹34,999 for the top variant, as speculated by MySmartPrice.
There will be some introductory offers for sure, and the handset will be available via Amazon India, OnePlus India online store, and OnePlus Experience Stores across the country. The company will also be launching the OnePlus Buds Pro, which is a topic for a different day.
