Microsoft has finally unveiled its second generation of Surface Duo smartphones. Microsoft unveiled its folding phones on Wednesday night at its fall hardware event. The Surface Duo 2 features the same makeshift foldable design as the original Duo.

According to Microsoft, the Surface Duo 2 brings new and improved designs to the Surface Duo line. Still emphasizing the ability to multitask, Surface Duo 2 features larger screens, increased durability, a dynamic triple-lens camera, lightning-fast 5G, and a spine that displays notifications when the device is closed. Microsoft Surface Duo 2: Key Specifications
The Microsoft Surface Duo 2 sports a dual 5.8-inch AMOLED Pixel Sense display with a 1344×1892 resolution. The Microsoft Duo 2 also features a 90Hz adaptive refresh rate, making it suitable for all types of content. Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus protect the handset’s display.
In addition, the handset’s display can reach 800nits of brightness. Microsoft has curved the edges of these displays. The company calls it Glance Bar, designed to give quick access to notifications, volume, and charging information. The Surface Duo 2 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC paired with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 128/256/512GB of internal storage.
The Microsoft Surface Duo 2 boots Android 11 OS with its custom skin on top, supports 5G connectivity for eSIM and NanoSIM and offers dual-sim support.
In terms of optics, the Microsoft Surface Duo 2 features a triple camera setup at the rear comprising a 16MP primary sensor with an f/2.2 ultra-wide lens, a 12MP sensor with an f/1.7 wide-angle lens, a 12MP sensor with an f/2.4 telephoto lens, and the wide and telephoto lens supports optical image stabilization.
The rear camera setup is accompanied by a time-of-flight (ToF) sensor and an LED flash. At the front, the Microsoft Surface Duo 2 features a 12MP selfie shooter for snapping selfies and video chatting. Moreover, users can also record videos up to 4K 60fps or up to 1080p 240fps.
The Microsoft Surface Duo 2 houses a 4,449mAh battery with 23W fast charging support. The handset does not support wireless charging, and for wired charging, users need to buy the charger separately.
However, the Surface Duo 2 supports the new Surface Slim Pen 2 that can be attached magnetically to the handset on the outside while charging. The Microsoft Surface Duo 2 connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port for charging and file transfer.
